Learner Charter

Adult Learning Cardiff value our Learners as individuals and encourage you to contribute to our Learning for Work programme.

We put Learners at the centre of the learning process, using the principles outlined in the ‘Adult Learning in Wales 2017’ document.

We ensure our Courses adhere to Cardiff Council’s safeguarding procedures, Equal Opportunities Policy and follow all Health and Safety guidance for each Course and venue. Before each Training Session, Trainers will inform Learners of the Health and Safety guidelines to be aware of.

Adult Learning Cardiff are committed to ensuring the best for our Learners. We promise to:

  • Treat you with respect and without discrimination.
  • Give you clear and relevant information about our Courses.
  • Make reasonable adjustments that allow you to access learning and ensure that you are given the right support.
  • Provide a welcoming and safe learning environment.
  • Provide good quality resources and learning materials.
  • Deliver Courses at an appropriate level of accreditation.
  • Cater for all learning styles and needs.
  • Provide knowledgeable and qualified Trainers for all Courses.
  • Give constructive feedback to help you improve your skills and knowledge.
  • Give advice on progression pathways by signposting you to further learning with our partner organisations and Into Work Advice Service provision.
  • Listen to your comments, compliments, concerns, and complaints and inform you of any actions taken.
  • Protect your personal information.

  • Ensure our provision embeds the Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship with all learning programmes.

Whilst completing a Course with Adult Learning Cardiff, it is important to respect the Trainer, your fellow Learners and the Facility being used. We ask that all Learners:

  • Arrive promptly and contact us if you are going to be late.
  • Please be aware if you arrive later than 15 minutes of the agreed start time, it may impact your ability to take part in the Course.
We understand this can happen so you will be welcome to enrol onto the next available Course.
  • Please inform us if you cannot attend a session.
  • Keep mobile phone and devices on silent during sessions. We understand some calls need to be taken so please just inform your Trainer and leave the room before answering.
  • Treat staff and fellow learners with courtesy and respect regardless of culture, ability, disability, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or social class. Behaviour that abuses or threatens others will not be tolerated and may impact your ability to complete the Course.
  • Observe health & safety advice and procedures given by your Trainer.
  • Use digital equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Talk to your Trainer about your progress and anything that may affect your learning. We have lots of support available to accommodate all learners.
  • Complete your workbook and/or activities at the standard required to achieve the accreditation.

Please be aware that pre-booking is required for all Courses. Many Courses have a limited number of spaces available and we operate waiting lists. Our Trainers will not be able to let you complete a Course if you are not on the Attendee register.

Please ensure that you attend every session of a Course. Failure to do so may impact your ability to successfully complete the Course and gain accreditation.

We understand and appreciate circumstances change, which may impact your ability to complete a Course. If you have enrolled onto a Course but can no longer attend, please inform us as soon as possible so your place can be given to another learner.
